This module has been my favourite of the course so far. It has really focused in on UX design and the whole purpose of it, and I have really enjoyed it. I thought that the lecture series this module was really interesting and has helped me understand our job and role as UX designers. We went through the UX process each week, going from research and discovery through to prototyping and testing. Understanding this process and the system that we should follow as designers has helped me massively. I enjoyed the lectures on content strategy and testing the most, as I thought that they were explained very well and we were given the chance to use the skills we have learnt.

The projects were also really fun and hands on which was great. We were straight into a small project, which was making the smart watch app. This got us back into the swing of things after a long summer and was nice to be broken into with a smaller project instead of a large one straight away. The other two projects were both challenging and enjoyable, with the AV being difficult as there isn’t a lot of products out at the minute to work with and take inspiration from. I enjoyed this one as I used user stories and personas to design for a very niche type of user. I thought that this project came out looking very nice and I was very pleased with it. The SDG project was one that involved a lot of research, and choosing a goal that I was passionate about I was able to come up with ideas that I thought were important. I done a lot of extra define and ideation work in this project, for example making journey maps and user flows. This really helped me when it came to the overall purpose and function of the app, which was to create an app educating university students on SDGs and giving them the chance to donate or volunteer.

This module came with it’s challenges but one thing that I learnt was the importance of designing for a specific user. One quote that has stuck with me was “If your designing for everyone, then your designing for no-one”. This has helped me when it comes to picking a target user. Doing some extra reading for this module helped as well, with our lecturer giving us some articles to read each week.

Overall I have really enjoyed this module and have learnt a lot about UX design. It has changed my thinking on it and gave me a real passion for it.
