Before I started designing the app, I wanted to create a site map and user flows so that I could layout the different screens and sections, to see how they are related to each other. This helped me understand the flows that the user could take, and see of I could spot any holes before I started designing.
The site map is super simple as it is not a very complex app, but it was still great to get one created and see how the app would work and the different screens that are involved. Using Red for primary screens, and purple for secondary screens.
The first user flow I designed was for a user who wants to add a sticky note to their notice board. A user flow diagram was the perfect way to lay this out clearly. Starting on the sticky notes screen, the user will navigate some essential steps before they decide if they want to add a time or repeats or not. The user will always end up with a sticky note being added to their board, but there can be some extra steps involved depending on whether they want to add a time or repeats.
