The brief has changed from healthcare to university, so from now on this will be the focus of the research. In our groups we created a Miro board, and here is where we all added our research that we gathered. We each looked into a different area of the university sector, finding out some issues that we could potentially try to solve. Not only did I do desk research, but I also asked some friends that are in university or have previously been in university to get a gauge on what they thought, since they are the users that will be targeted. Below is what I found.
From initial research and also my own experience, I knew that health and well-being is something that a lot of students struggle with. I wanted to find out why this was and what some of the reasons were for students struggling with their health. I found that the main reason why students health is poor is because they are no longer with their family, but have to look after themselves. This new responsibility is something some people love and thrive under, but for others they struggle with managing themselves and keeping on top of their health. From here I wanted to gather all of the aspects that students struggle with, then match them together depending on what the reason behind it is. The 3 main reasons behind students having poor health were:
Top health concerns for college students (and what to do about them)
Ultimate guide to staying healthy at university
I then focused in on student concentration, as research showed that a lot of university students struggle to stay concentrated in class. I wanted to find out more about this, and what were some of the factors that caused this issue. I found that there were many different reasons why students can’t concentrate in class, and a lot of these were things that students do due to the inconsistent lifestyle they have compared to other people. From each factor I found I was able to look further into what the outcome of that can be on concentration levels.
