As part of my define stage, it is important to create a user persona that will be used to guide and direct the rest of the project. This user persona will serve as a reminder of who I am designing for, and will include some key information that has been gathered from the research.
I started by writing down on sticky notes in Miro some of the key information that I was going to include in the user persona. I tried only to include information that is useful and relevant to the project, as this would prevent it from becoming a distraction more than a guide.
I then moved onto designing the personas. As there was no brand identity yet, I created a stripped down version with basic colour and text. The first one was Sam Davies, a 2nd year Engineering Student. The key information was all about how Sam struggles with the amount of free time that he has transitioning from school to university. Because of this he ends up procrastinating and ends up doing little work. He wishes that he was more productive and had set times when he done things everyday. The next user persona was Kate Walker, who is a 1st year Law Student in Oxford. She struggles with the work load that she has at university, and wishes that there was a way that she could balance her social life and exercise better with her university work. All of the information that was used for these personas came from the research that I gathered, including desk research and user interviews. I was ensuring that I was not being assumptive when it came to creating these, but use the data that I had gathered.
