This week in class we explored using no code tools, especially for building websites. The tool that we looked at today was Framer, a code free website builder.

The task that we had to do was create both our Women in Design and Street of Crocodiles websites in Framer, and this was to go alongside creating these websites in HTML and CSS. I began by downloading the desktop app for Framer, signed up then began designing. One of the best features of Framer is that using a Figma plugin, you can copy and paste elements from a Figma design straight into your Framer website. This made things really easy for me as I already had finished designs on Figma, so I just needed to copy and paste them over.

On Framer, I just needed to then line up everything the way it should be, so creating these 2 designs of Framer wasn’t very time consuming, although I did come across a few issues, which I was able to fix after a bit of playing around with it. The last thing that I needed it to do was to publish it, and this was also very easy to do.

Here is my finished Framer websites for Women in Design and Streets of Crocodiles.

Streets of Crocodiles - https://street-of-crocodiles.framer.website

Although I thought that Framer was very simple to use, I didn’t enjoy using it too much as it gave me some trouble trying to move elements, and when the page is opened up on the web, parts sometimes move around. I tried my best to fix it, but some of the headings are in slightly different positions that what they should be. Overall Framer is a tool that I’m not sure that I will use, as it can be very fidgety and inconsistent. I think I prefer using HTML and CSS, although maybe if I got to use Framer again I could give it another go.
