The Fibonacci Sequence is a mathematics sequence considered to be discovered in 200 BC where each number in the sequence is the two previous numbers added together, for example, 1,1,2,3,5,8,13 etc.

The Golden Ratio was discovered in 300 BC by Euclid. Using this will make all of the quantities in the design will have continuous ratio. The Golden Ratio is essentially the Fibonacci Sequence in visual form when it is used in design. The purpose of using it in design is to create balance in the proportions of the piece. It is commonly used in art and can even be seen in nature.

Gestalt Principles

In this lesson we also looked at the gestalt principles. There are 7 gestalt principles and these are:

  1. Figure-ground
  2. Similarity
  3. Proximity
  4. Common region
  5. Continuity
  6. Closure
  7. Focal point

The ones that I found the most interesting were figure-ground, proximity, and closure.
