This week we had our critique for our project. So far what we have done is find out a problem that happens at home, and find a way to digitise a solution for it. Also moving through the ideation stage having some wireframes drawn out and some brand elements. This was a good chance to get some feedback from both my teacher and my class peers.

Critique Points

The critique I received was really positive, with the main point being that I should maybe think also about the other side of the user, who could be people on a low budget. My teachers argument was that there are people who are not necessarily wealthy, but having their valuables stolen can mean just as much to them, and cause them more stress and hassle than a wealthy person. The colour palette and typeface reflected the brand well, with mentions of it looking authoritative and gives a sense of security. The idea of having a way to secure your home using reminders and checklists was well-received, but I should just be more inclusive by also targeting low-income people.

Conclusion

Todays critique was super useful for getting some well-needed feedback on my project. Although I knew what direction I was going it was great to get some guidance on how I should move forward. Getting some tips on how I should design moving forward more inclusively helped me understand the importance of not limiting the amount of users that can access our product.
